Biography: Faduma Mohamed graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering in 2026. As an undergraduate student, her research projects in the Willet Lab included validating sequencing of 10 different Enterococcus faecalis transposon mutants in simulated wound fluid by looking at growth and survival of individual mutants. She also streaked colonies and counted viable bacterial colonies from over 150 oral rinse samples collected at the Minnesota State Fair. She is pivoting her research focus towards pregnancy for her Master's, specifically looking at vascular smooth muscle cell contractility changes due to mechanical and hormonal cues.
