Biography: Mara is a Biomedical Engineering PhD student studying the uterus. She previously earned her BS in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Kansas in 2025. As an undergraduate student, she was part of the Women's Health Engineering Summer Research Program at Washington University in St. Louis in 2024, where she discovered her passion for research in women's health. Her research focuses on the biomechanics and multi-scale forces of the uterus during pregnancy, with a focus on how the uterus prepares to generate contractions for delivery.
